Soooo true!! I am amazed at our human ability to adjust to new environments. However, how can something familiar and pleasant become foreign?? Maybe because we can’t “handle” too many sensations at once? Or we need a hierarchy of familiarity to cope with life? Very interesting indeed… Could make many comments about your post! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your feedback, Franca! Your idea of a “hierarchy of familiarity” is very interesting. I think we get so used to new environments that we develop some sort of distance to what was familiar before. Might also be an emotional coping mechanism to be able to function in that new environment? Letting go of certain things in order to make room for new things? Love this topic!
